ABOUT US

Our Goal          Our History

Since its inception, Cherokee (Beach) Campground has been a family owned, operated, and focussed business.  We strive to operate with an old-fashioned, family-oriented, business style and Christian ethics.  Cherokee Campground is staffed by family and friends, offering friendly smiles and a helpful hand along with the best, quiet, camping in the Birmingham, Alabama area.  Our goal is to provide a safe, quiet, and natural experience for RV'ers in Central Alabama at the lowest possible price.  We cater to overnighters and long-term visitors.  We specialize in repeat campers who are in the area visiting family, fulfilling short-term work, or simply looking for a place to stay full-time.  We honor discount programs at 50% off the daily rate (daily rate $33.30 includes tax).  SEE OUR UPDATED WEBSITE AT WWW.CHEROKEECAMPGROUND.INFO

The history of our lovely campground goes back over 40 years.  Cherokee Campground is located on 150 acres originally purchased by Sonny and Bettye Littleton in 1960.  Many Native American artifacts were found along Trigger Creek as our 20 acre lake was being developed.  Motivated by the artifacts and the family's Cherokee heritage, the business was named Cherokee Beach.  For three decades Cherokee Beach was the area's top family attraction - a recreation center that boasted swimming, boating, fishing, bar-b-que pits, picnicking, a concession stand, a pavilion, and a bandstand which would host local entertainment.    In 1987, second generation owners, Bruce and Tommy Littleton, converted the facilities into an RV park, which now has 92 campsites. On December 1, 2005, Braxton Enterprises, Inc., a family business, (leased) began on-site management, of Cherokee Campground. Becoming familiar to our guests are Wm. Braxton (Billy) and Regina Hobson, who greet and assist both the short and long-term campers. David, our son earned his doctorate degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in North Carolina. Our daughter Rebekah, and son-in-law Derek also provides assistance to our guests. Having lived only a few miles from Cherokee (Beach) Campground, and enjoyed the family atmosphere and activites offered at Cherokee (Beach) Campground over the years, Billy (Braxton Enterprises, Inc.) continues the family-focused, natural environment theme began by the Littleton family.  Cherokee Campground is proud to offer you a superb camping facility, allowing the visitor an opportunity to relax and enjoy all the beauty our central Alabama location has to offer.     Future plans for Cherokee Campground include a clubhouse for group functions and club gatherings, an Annual Art and Music Festival, a restaurant on the lake, an artist community with studios and galleries on site, and cabin rentals.
